It was a very special evening with Brethren, family, guests and friends celebrating our 210th year of the founding of and charter of Amicable Lodge #25 in 1797. The Cassia, Center and St. John’s Lodges were merged recently to form the Amicable-St. John’s Lodge #25 and it is deemed that because of those mergers, our Lodge has been strengthened as we go forward into the future together. Coincidently, it was also the year 1797 that the City of Baltimore, Maryland was chartered. It is not unimaginable that some of our Nation’s founding fathers might have attended a meeting or two or perhaps a Masonic function sponsored by our Lodge. It was only fitting that we selected Baltimore and Maryland ’s living legend, William Donald Schaefer to be our honored guest. Now retired from public life and soon to be 86 on November 2, 2007 , he was the epitome of a true and very dedicated public servant. Of special note to Brethren everywhere was the title that he held within our ranks of being a 33° Scottish Rite Master Mason. This evening he was made an honorary member of our Lodge and given a plaque by our Worshipful Master, Brother Ronald J. Jacobson on behalf of the Officers and Brethren in recognition of his devotion to the State of Maryland and his participation in this evening’s festivities.
Additionally to the honors and recognition bestowed on our Brother Don and our Lodge, a 50 year pin was presented to Brother Marvin Schein and a 60 year pin was presented to Worshipful Brother Herman Samuel.
